My Approach to Portraiture:
When shooting portraits my goal is to capture the personality of the sitter, and allow them to reveal themselves at their best. Shooting in the clients home or other familiar location puts them at ease and often helps avoid the artifice we often present when being photographed. Regardless of whether I am shooting on location or in the studio I keep the mood light and encourage the client to play an active role in the portrait process. Then end result is a positive experience for the sitter and better images are produced, because the client has become vested in the process.
The Portraits

Casual Portraits:

The images are all shot on location and involve very minimum direction from the photographer. This involves walking the line between candid snapshots and studio formality and this is why we call them Casual Portraits. These images are natural and spontanious without the overly directed feel of many studio portraits, and I find them to be the most fun for both myself and the client.

Black & White Portraiture

These portraits can be shot on location or in the studio. We use large format 4x5 and 8x10 film cameras, because we feel that black and white film has a look and feel that digital is still unable to duplicate. The negatives are then scanned and printed using Cone Editionsa archival Piezographic inks on 100% rag paper. I can aslo supply tradtional Silver prints upon special request. The resulting images posses a timeless beauty and will become treasured family heirloms.
